is cardboard modeling outdated?
In a time when the majority of architectural modeling is computer based, outsourced or printed, a question arises that asks the relevance of traditional approaches to modeling techniques in a modern office.
Our investigations of form, siting and landscape require concentrated time and effort with a presence of hand, to touch and feel. Thus allowing the design process to reflect the link between slowness, memory and the human senses.
It is the tactile experience of cutting, careful placement and sketching that allows us to better understand the relationships between landforms and built forms.
Clients see, touch (no one can resist), feel a part, and fall in love with the ideas designers create; we see the development of these study models as an integral and essential component of the design process.
THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL 2016! CAN SOMEBODY PUT A QUARTER IN THE WAVE MACHINE?
