Alan Mcleod
A native of New Zealand, Alan received his Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Auckland in 1995. Alan has traveled the world and gained design experience in countries such as New Zealand, Fiji, Dubai, Egypt, Costa Rica, and Mexico. He taught at Syracuse University and was employed by design-based firms throughout the United States over the last 25 years. Alan has a passion for quality of life and connecting with people which is why you can usually find him catching a wave or making a new friend. He enjoys the entire design process from idea to execution and searches for the appropriate architecture of place in every project through the study of environment, views, and cultural consciousness.
Lauren Anderson
Growing up in the heart of America, Lauren graduated from Kansas State University with a Masters of Architecture in 2008 and was privileged to spend a semester studying abroad in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italia in 2007. Lauren has been refining her career path for eleven years and has been fortunate to work on projects in Dubai, Baja California Sur, Hawaii, and coastal California. She joined Alan to rediscover her love for the creative process in delivering a built work that resonates with the clients and the greater community. Lauren is active in the Santa Barbara community and the outreach programs in schools.
Ryan Brown
Graduating with a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the New School of Architecture and Design in San Diego, Ryan began his professional career in his hometown of Malibu, California. There he mentored under his grandfather Ed Niles, an established local architect and FAIA, while also independently designing his family’s home which was lost in the Woosley Fire in 2018. A true geek at heart, Ryan will always push for the use of innovative materials and building practices when he has the chance. Joining the A34 team in 2023, he is eager to continue building his expertise for design in the Southern Californian context that he knows and loves.
Jennifer Quito Alvarez
Born and raised in Santa Barbara, Jennifer has begun her career at a34 Studio after graduating from the University of Southern California’s Bachelor’s of Architecture. At USC she studied abroad in Rome and Milan, where she rediscovered her love for photography and sketching. During her time in school, she focused on experimenting with color and materiality in her projects while putting sustainability and accessibility at the forefront of every design. She is excited to get started on her career journey with a34 in her hometown.

Must be capable of shifting gears quickly in a fast-paced team environment, and capable of describing process, direction, and solutions while managing hundreds of project details. Requirements:
Project Designer: 2+ years of experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
Proficiency in Revit/ AutoCAD (REQUIRED)
Experience in a variety of projects and with all phases of design and construction
Strong design and graphic skills
Experience with Microsoft Word, Office, Excel, Powerpoint
Proficiency in Adobe software
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Professional appearance and work ethic
Familiarity with California permitting process
Some travel involved.
